Drew Nixon is proud to be the man behind the woman behind the growing phenomenon that is Dixie Lynn Cartwright.
Hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, Drew grew up singing in church and one day naturally thought, “Why not do this in a dress?..” Everyone in town thought that was a terrible idea, so he moved to Chicago and did it anyway.
Through the generous support of his family, friends, and the amazing ladies of the Chicago drag community, Drew is happily becoming a sought-after performer, combining a refined stage persona with dry humor and an impressive, emotionally
engaging singing voice.
Drew enjoys traveling and trying out all the different
McDonald's in various cities. Any time he gets to take Dixie
on the road is a real treat (mainly because of the
different McDonald's thing).
Hailing from a backwater Tennessee town, Dixie Lynn Cartwright was born with a song in her heart and falsies in her blouse.
She was first exposed to the glitz of show business by her mother, an avid Lawrence Welk viewer and the official Town Drunk. Classic Welk tunes such as The Champagne Lady, and Bubbles In The Wine inspired Dixie to develop her voice and inspired her mother to open another bottle. To this day, Dixie strives to combine both The Lawrence Welk Show's glamour and her mother's blood-alcohol level into every performance.
Since arriving on the Chicago scene, Dixie has quickly become a true “Who's That?” in the drag community. In addition to her three-octave vocal range, Dixie's skills include inserting Steel Magnolias quotes into everyday conversations, and acting humble and/or surprised when someone compliments her enormous talent.
Dixie would like to thank The Lord and Hydroxycut for all they have given her.
